Midwestern Vascular Surgical Society

Message from the President

GARY R. SEABROOK, MD, 2008-2009 PRESIDENT

Welcome to the Midwestern Vascular Surgery Society Website.  Our organization is one of five regional vascular societies dedicated to advancing the practice of vascular surgery, furthering educational opportunities, and bringing state of the art research and technology to those providing care to patients with vascular disease.  The Society encompasses the states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

This website outlines plans for our Midwestern Vascular 2009, the 33rd Annual Meeting to be held September 10-12, 2009 in Chicago.  The program is composed of integrated sessions of scientific papers and the New Horizons in Vascular Surgery Course with programs and workshops dealing with new innovations in vascular surgery.   The Officers and Council Members are committed to utilizing the resources of the Society to enhance the professional life of its members and improve the care for patients with vascular disease.  With that mission, we continually update the format of the annual meeting to bring information regarding new technology in endovascular techniques, hands-on training courses, advances in educational simulation, and information regarding coding and reimbursement.  We thank all members who sponsored scientific abstracts for the Annual Meeting.  For information about our upcoming meeting, please visit the Annual Meeting page.

We invite surgeons, whose career is devoted to the care of vascular disease, to become a member of the Midwestern Vascular Surgery Society.  Please refer to the Membership Section and application link which explains the application process and provides the application forms.   In addition to practicing vascular surgeons, we encourage the participation of Fellows in Vascular Surgery who are training in the region.  Simply returning a completed application will confer Candidate Membership.  In addition to vascular surgeons, physicians caring for patients with vascular disease will be considered for membership. Registered vascular technologists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and vascular nurse specialists are also welcome to join the Society as Associate Members.

We appreciate the support of industry sponsors who have provided educational grants to help underwrite expenses incurred with our Annual Meeting and New Horizons program.  Technical exhibits at the meeting afford participants an opportunity to examine the latest equipment, instruments and devices available for the treatment of vascular disease.

Thank you for visiting our website.  For further information, please contact our Society administrative offices using this link, or by phone (978) 745-8331.

We look forward to seeing you in Chicago.

Best wishes,

Gary R. Seabrook, M.D.
